In which, the author tells a lot of stories about her marriage to Chris Pratt and life leading up to that.
This is her podcast in book version. I nearly gave it 3* out of sympathy for the divorce from Chris, who she gushes about in many chapters.
I listened to the audiobook. I laughed a couple times but overall had trouble connecting to the author. I also found it very distracting that it seemed like most or all of the book had been written before she and Chris divorced, but only some parts were changed to reflect the marriage in the past tense.
funny
hopeful
lighthearted
reflective
medium-paced
Her one liners gave me unexpected giggles.
I don't know why I keep buying celebrity memoirs/autobiographies instead of just borrowing them from the library because I never seem to really like them all that much. I mean, there were some very interesting tidbits and heartwarming stories but a lot of time it's like celebrities are like "hey look, I have awkward life experiences just like you!" but then they also go on to mention a day in their life which is nothing like what I've experienced.
It was also a little awkward because it's very much a book about Anna Faris's relationships and advice and there are lots of mentions of Chris Pratt who was her husband while she wrote most of the book. Quite a few of the passages were about them still being together but then she'd throw in a sentence or two there that were clearly added after the split so it kind of made me a little uncomfortable. I mean, I understand that life happens but it was kind of weird to read.
Also, I think I would have liked it a lot more if I'd have listened to her podcast that is more or less on the same subjects as the book because she referenced it a lot and a lot of the sections were kind of re-enactments of segments she said she'd done on the podcast, only with her as the one being interviewed instead of doing the interviewing.
But I will say it was one of the better written celebrity memoirs I've read so that's something.

it was simply ok. I didn't laugh as much as i anticipated but I didn't mind reading it either.
This was a fun audio narrated by the author. Like others who have reviewed it have commented, it throws a mysterious light on her recent separation from Chris Pratt as she doesn't say anything negative about him in the book since it was written prior to the separation, although it was updated some prior to publication and still fails to provide any insight into the uncoupling.
I have always loved Anna Faris. I loved her even more after her performance in Just Friends and I was very excited to get into this book. I looked into some of the reviews beforehand and I was surprised to see how negatively some had taken the book, stating she had no business writing a memoir and that it read more like a self-help book. Here's the thing, the book is called Unqualified. Anna stated she was unqualified to write a book, as a warning to all of the naysayers, but I'm glad she did. I think the book started off strong, full of humor and raw wit, but it fell off once Chris came into the picture at the end. Knowing the direction Anna and Chris went after the publication of the book, I can only assume there were things going on that weren't talked about in the book and that's where the disconnect came into play. I hope in the future when this part of her life has all blown over and she's ready to talk about it, I hope Anna decides to write another book because I am here for it.
