Never really loved the story of little mermaid, as it's tragic and I'm kind of afraid of mermaids...But this one is the disney version, so at least it got a happy ending...

Disney's The Little Mermaid is a classic, and I hope my niece will enjoy this Christmas present. It is just a simple retelling of the plot of the movie, but it's still a nice read.

Another childhood favorite story which I read a billion times. Ariel is my most favorite Disney princess. I watched the movie and the TV series SO many times as a kid.

This book was very difficult to rate, as some stories deserved 5 stars (Five Peas from the Same Pod, The Little Mermaid, The Little Match Girl) while others deserved only 1-2 stars.

My opinion of Hans Christian Andersen also ranged from brilliant to cracked.

So...

But overall, I think that I would get this book for my kids/godchildren. We would just perhaps read our favorite stories and skip some of the other ones.

These fairy tales were very easy to read with rhymes and beautiful descriptions. The illustrations were also gorgeous!

My ratings for each individual story:
The Little Mermaid - 4
The Nightingale - 2
The Ugly Duckling - 3
The Swineherd - 1
The Tinder Box - 2
The Princess and the Pea - 2
The Emperor's New Clothes - 5 (absolutely hilarious!)
The Red Shoes - 1
Thumbelina - 3
The Steadfast Tin Soldier - 3
The Little Match Girl - 2
The Snow Queen -3

Yes it is shameful that I have NEVER read The Little Mermaid until now.

I really enjoyed this short children’s classic! I think the illustrations would be more beautiful in book form rather than kindle form.

The message I got from this story is to treasure what you already have in life!

A lovely classic! Very enjoyable.

Thank you Netgally for allowing me to review this little treasure.

Release date - March 2020.
