I can see why people really liked this one! It is a fast read with main characters that you invest in really easily on their journey. The female protagonist Bennet is very relatable as we have all felt loss and drowning when figuring out who we are when life goes wrong. Very classic early 2000s romcom vibes with a miscommunication trope!

One star, and this was a book about New York! Two third act breakups and a main character with the emotional maturity of emotionally immature high schooler. I get that her being stunted was part of the plot, but it made for a miserable reading experience. Felt like it was written by a 15 year old that was just imagining what a relationship might be like.

3.75/5 stars - i picked this up on a whim with no expectations, but this book was such a pleasant surprise! i enjoyed bennet and henry's dynamic a lot; it felt like the author really took their time to let their relationship develop from friends to more than just that. they're the kind of characters that really grow on you as the story progresses.

i was a bit frustrated with some conflicts in the book, particularly around the 70% mark, especially since it was dealt with rather quickly so it felt unnecessary to have in the first place. i also wish we delved into henry's issues more too, especially since the book deals with bennet's grief particularly well.

i will say that contrary to some reviews on here, i actually really enjoyed the third act conflict because it helped not only develop bennet and henry's characters further, it also made their relationship stronger in my eyes.
