A beautiful story about life after grief, finding yourself again and opening up to things that once seemed unattainable: love, friendship, and happiness.

"That's what life is about. Never stop loving. No matter what."

July Bookclub Book 2025

This book was sweet, fun, summery... and surprisingly emotional.

This book caught me off guard. At first, I wasn’t entirely sure how I felt about it. There were moments while reading where I found myself disconnected or even frustrated—especially with Bennet, the main character. But once I finished and sat with it for a while, I began to understand her in a deeper way.

Bennet is complicated. She’s grieving, stuck, and dealing with serious mental health struggles. At first, I was annoyed with her wallowing and the way she seemed to self-sabotage. But when I took a step back, I realized how closely her behavior mirrored someone close to me who struggles with the same things. That’s when it really hit me—Bennet wasn’t being dramatic or frustrating just to create plot tension. She was real. Deeply flawed, but real. In many ways, I found myself relating more to Sonya and Andy in the book—on the outside, wanting to help, but not always knowing how.

The romance was one of my favorite parts. Henry is an absolute gem—a soft, golden retriever of a man with such a kind, steady presence. His patience, humor, and devotion were exactly what Bennet needed, even when she didn’t realize it. I found myself falling for him right alongside her. That said, I didn’t love the way he was treated in certain moments. Hence the 4 stars. I was genuinely upset for him, and honestly, I think he handled things a little too well. Boy deserved better at times.

London Sperry also does a fantastic job capturing the spirit of New York City. The atmosphere, the energy—it all felt authentic and vibrant. It grounded the story beautifully and gave Bennet’s internal journey a vivid external backdrop.

In the end, this book left a quiet impression on me. It wasn’t always easy to read, and it made me reflect in unexpected ways. But I think that’s exactly why it’ll stick with me for a while.
