Cute, a bit slow at times but interesting themes of grief, young adult life in a new city, and opening yourself up to new people ans experiences

Summary
Passion Project follows Bennet as she navigates life after the loss of her college boyfriend. She is consumed by grief, guilt, anxiety, depression, and other hazards of life. That is until she meets Henry and they start the Passion Project. The book follows their adventures and their slow burn romance.

My thoughts
The FMC, Bennett, is one of the most insufferable characters I’ve ever read. She seems determined to wallow in her suffering and push anyone away that even remotely cares for her. The MMC, Henry, is an amazing golden retriever, angel baby that needs to be protected at all costs. I literally almost stopped reading at 80% because of how Bennet was doing my man Henry. Then the ending!!! Ugh i cannot. I think I am a pretty easy reader to please and this book and Bennet really got under my skin. My baby Henry deserved more. I do have beef with Bennet. Henry is more forgiving than me.

Passion Project was written from Bennet’s point of view which at times I loved and at times it made me want to pull all the hair from my body. Bennet struggled with grief and anxiety through the book. I am familiar with mental health but she seemed determined to blame herself for everything and not accept joy in any form. It was torturous at times to read. I wanted to shake her and be like “Bennet, babe, you deserve happiness” and her friends did! And she still turned around and treated my man Henry like shit! I really wanted to hear Henry’s POV! I needed to have a mental check in with my boo!
