It was fun at first but as it went on it got really annoying because the main character was such a terrible friend and partner that it pissed me off.
And also the book was funny to some extent, later it became cheesy and dense so it was no longer funny

The best part of the book is the last 10% of it. It takes 90% of the book for our FMC to understand that she is an adult who is in charge of her emotions and what she does and says has consequences. That, yes, she has to actually take accountability and fix said actions when she screws it up.
I think the target demographic is older millennials in their 30s who are into millennial core humor. Who also have a hard time with emotional regulation and struggle with self improvement.
The FMC, Bennet, is unfortunately so hard to like and is very self deprecating and is rude to people because “he boyfriend died” years ago and is tits deep in depression and anxiety.
Henry our MMC was stood up by her on what was supposed to be their first date. He constantly try’s to unwind Bennys sadness and give her a fun experience by surprising her with fun “not dates just hang outs”.
I guess my issue is that our FMC is just a downer, she hates everyone and everything because of her depression and instead of doing impatient, therapy, anything to deal with loss and grief and making meaningful connections with important people…. She just kinda… shits… on everything and stumbles through life sad and angry.
She hurts her best friends feelings by pushing her away for months and months and forgets her hobbies and bday; her bestie begs for a crumb of connection and to just try’s to constantly “help fix her” and she finally snaps and confronts her- then the next chapter is Benny just wallowing in self pity.. the energy is giving your ex boyfriend that is “sad” and makes you feel bad for him when your the one who should be upset.

The third act break up with the FMC being absolutely insufferable is just a no. Pass.

There's no freaking way this is a debut novel like omg. First of all love the whole idea for Bennet's name, as a person who's mother is obsessed with Pride and Prejudice is was so cool to see it here. Henry is like the best book boyfriend in the world by my standards and not afraid to do what's best for him!! Bennet's journey through grief is inspiring and the atmosphere of New York is magical. Definitely wanna hear more from this author.
