I go this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was on a vacation with no clue what to read next when i remembered i had gotten this one from Netgalley and had actually started it though, only for like 10 pages or so, i had no internet connection so i could find a blurb or something but figured that probably wanted to read it since i had requested it. From what i could remember about it, the title and the first 10 pages i guessed that it was a book about some spoiled rich brat who got in trouble, was shipped off to boarding school, fell in love and was completely redeemed, so boy was i surprised when there all of sudden were a murder!
I have a kinda love/hate relationship with mysteries which comes from my lack of patience, i don't have the patience for all the clues i just wanna know who did it. This time however i was really following the clues trying to figure out who murdered Isabella and who Anne could trust.
Anne was a funny and sarcastic Main character who thought she could talk her way out of anything until the day she couldn't. She was very determined in everything she did, and didn't have that whole insecurity thing that practically all female YA main characters have today.in the beginning i thought she was thoughtless, borderline stupid, but it turned out that when she was needed to be she was smart though still rash.
there was a slight love triangle which usually is really not my thing but i thought Kara Taylor pulled it of quite well.
all in all it definitely was a good book though not great.

Ok, I definitely enjoyed this book way more than I anticipated I would!
Our main girl, Anne, has been expelled from her prep school in NYC for (accidentally) burning down the auditorium (she was trying to destroy a recent write-up for her less than stellar behaviour). She transfers to a boarding school in Boston, Wheatley Prep, and one week in, her roommate, Isabella, is found murdered. The plot centers around Anne trying to find out who killed Isabella and why. During her search, Anne starts to unravel many dark (and dangerous) secrets about her school and just how far the school will go to make sure the secrets stay buried.
I really enjoyed, Anne. Her character grew exponentially throughout the story which I did not expect. She goes from being a spoiled, self-centred, queen bee brat who does anything simply because she can without consequence to a brave and determined girl who does the right thing regardless of the consequence. You could see her way of thinking change throughout the book; she could’ve easily become the queen bee at Wheatley, just like she was at her old school, but she stirred herself away from that title.
The mystery surrounding the plot was great and had me CONSTANTLY wondering what was going to happen next. While I found the conclusion a teensy far-fetched, I wasn't disappointed. There were also some unsolved secrets that left a cliffhanger into the next book...and I’ll definitely be reading it to see what Anne discovers next!

Amazing!
This book blew my expectations out of the water! When I was halfway through the book, I googled the author and noticed that this is her debut novel. Yes, her debut novel. I couldn't believe it because the book is so well written and the plot is so good that I am left speechless.
Prep School Confidential is a page turner. The twists that are thrown at you leave you breathless as if you have been running a 5k marathon. The character development, the mystery, the writing, I loved everything in this book.
Since I am posting this review three weeks before the book comes out all I can say is that if you like mystery, if you like boarding school stories, or if you want a good murder story, this is the book for you.
I think even readers that are a fan of fantasy/paranormal/dystopian books will greatly enjoy this book.
Yes, its that amazing.

I'm an absolute sucker for a boarding school book. Anything set in a pretty much singular location is gold to me, so I went into this book already loving one aspect of it. The only thing I really struggled with here was the amount of characters, as I found it hard to keep track of everyone. However aside from that this was a fun story and I really enjoyed it. I won't be continuing the series, because I know I'd prefer this as a standalone, but I did like it.
Ladies and Gentlemen, if 'Gossip Girl' and 'Pretty Little Liars' ever had a baby, this would be the result.
Yes, this book placed on the rich stereotypes. I totally expected that. But, everything else was fan-flipping-tastic. The amount of secrets that one school has was amazing. Every time that Anne and company found an answer, there were five hundred more questions added to the huge pile of them. There was never a dull moment in this world. The amount of secrets were astounding. I felt that the entire school was living two different lives.
Anne was an interesting character. She didn't know when to shut her big mouth and she could talk circles around people. Even though she set her school on fire (accidentally, of course), she still wants to help her roommate. She wants to find the killer that she thinks the police isn't look hard enough for. She wants to know why the school is covering things up and she wants to bring justice to anyone who has been hurt.
Then you have the love triangle. I'm actually ok with this one, however, I hate the fact that every young adult author today is putting one into their stories. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT A LOVE TRIANGLE ISN'T REQUIRED TO WRITE A YOUNG ADULT FICTION NOVEL! Even though I like Brent a little better and would that Anne end up with him, with the way that the story is going, I'm thinking that Anthony will come out victorious.
Definitely check out this book. With twists and turns, and a puzzles within puzzles within another puzzle, this book will really keep you on your toes! Never a dull moment at the Wheatley School. I can't wait for the next one!

This was a really good book. The murder mystery kept me turning the pages and I didn't pin the one responsible until almost the same time as Anne.

First and foremost a murder mystery, Prep School Confidential was also a quick, enjoyable read. Set in a prestigious Boston prep school, the sharp and compelling main character, Anne Dowling, stumbles into trouble within her first week. Her roommate is murdered and the suspicious inaction of the school and police lead Anne into an investigation.
Anne is a likeable lead character, her perspective moves the story along quickly and her tenacity keeps her interesting. Anne's got a moral compass that won't be cowed or intimidated and I love that in a lead character. It also means I'm eagerly anticipating reading the next book in the series.

Looking for a fun, trashy, young adult book? Prep School Confidential is awesome. It's chock-full of gossip and backstabbing, and the protagonist is an intelligently fantastic adolescent girl. I literally could not put this book down.
Anne Dowling, the queenbee of her exclusive, private high school gets expelled. Why? She accidentally torched her school. She ends oh at boarding school; Anne is horrified by the fashion choices, the hair highlights, and the sheer distance from NYC. Until she spots a cute boy and befriends her quirky roommate Isabel.
A week later, Isabel is dead. Anne doesn't think the school or the police are doing nearly enough to investigate. Anne is spunky, so obviously she takes the investigation on. When it seems the killer might be after her too, does Anne back off? Hell no. And that's why I love her.
Another of my favorite things? Romance is peripheral. There are love interests, but they are not the point of the story. Anne is just too busy solving murders to be caught up in love--but there are a couple of hot make out sessions.
Hurry up book #2! I can't believe I have to wait till 2014.

GR Ultimate Summer Reading Challenge: Beach Bum.
Prep School Confidential sounded right up my alley! When I saw that my library had a copy I jumped at the chance. Unfortunately it wasn't for me.
I loved Anne as a heroine! But I didn't like anybody else. Reading about Anne's classmates really frustrated me. And half of them creeped me out. Thus I couldn't bring myself to read any more.
I do still recommend.
