Read this before listening to a Screw It, We're Just Gonna Talk About Comics episode because the hosts, [a:Will|3342295|Will Hines|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1468766402p2/3342295.jpg] and Kevin Hines, mentioned how amazing the book was thanks to
Spoilerits surprise ending.

So I did read this knowing something strange was going to happen,
and maybe that kept it from being amazing, but I still enjoyed the set up [a:Kurt Busiek|7338|Kurt Busiek|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1395515682p2/7338.jpg] has created—a whole new set of heroes who step up to help save New York after most of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and other major heroes have sacrificed themselves. There's a nice introduction to the Thunderbolts and a fun setpiece at the Statue of Liberty.

The story seems to rely a little too much on knowing what was happening in other contemporary Marvel titles (e.g., Onslaught and the death of so many heroes), so I probably won't continue reading it, but I'm glad I read this first issue before listening to the Hines brothers' podcast (if only to get a little more comic book lore under my belt).
