It wasn't bad. It's great for what it is --- a fun, lighthearted romance novel. But don't expect any major character development or anything. The romance was a bit cringy though. And the main character was very obnoxious.

Gosh I loved this. It took me a little longer than the last one to get properly stuck into but once I did I didn’t want to leave. It’s so dry, so witty, so funny, so clever and lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I read the first 8 chapters and I think I am not the right audience for this book. The main problem for me was that almost everything that was described took me out of the story while reading.
The characters are not coherent with their role, especially Alice: she is supposed to be the best agent but she has no spacial awareness (both physical and regarding society), which is one of the most important skills for an undercover agent.
The romance is not built up. There is no real interaction between the two main characters, it's just superficial sexual attraction in the most random moments and for the smallest of details. Plus, this is also not coherent with the fact that Alice seems to know nothing about sex and is convinced that, in a past mission, Daniel was in bed with the Princess because they were having a sleepover. The best agent in the UK cannot lack such awareness this much.
The plot scenes are ridiculous and took me completely out of the story. It is not possible that pirates, who for 50 pages are said to be dangerous (and for those who read the first book they are), are playing at almost-killing-each-other, but then they challenge Alice at kissing her husband, when they are all supposed to think that they are married. This is a ridiculous scene created to build up the tension between the characters, but it only took me out of the story.
I loved the first book: it was so funny, the romance was really nice, I could feel the connection between the two young characters and the plot was so well laid out, I enjoyed all the scenes very much, plus I found it so amazingly original. I thought I could find all of that back in this sequel, but it unfortunately did not live up to my expectations.

If you look for haphazard and dangerous events for fun (such as playing tennis with grenades) drizzled all over the plot of poorly hidden espionnage and awkward sexual awakening, this is a book for you. Alas, it feels too irrational and childish, if that is not what you seek.
