I feel taken advantage of…
This is not a 5th book. This felt like a money grab opportunity for the author. If you want to publish a retelling from Cas’ point of view that is fine, and as readers we probably would still have read it. But what you should not do is market it as a 5th installment to a story, go on social media to assure your readers that this is indeed the next part of the story, and then proceed to release a book that is 90% retelling, 10% of nothing happening and 0% storyline. The way this was handled feels like there wasn’t enough respect for readers to just be up front and say “hey heads up, it’s not what you expect”. To go on social media and lie to your audience…dang, this feels so icky. And the fact that book “6” is apparently yet another retelling from Willa’s perspective just really makes me question the author’s intentions and truly makes me think she’s after the money. This was a huge miss. What’s sad is I probably would have liked it had I been told the truth and I knew what I was getting from the get go. I understand writing is difficult so we would have understood that the author needed more time and we would even have been happy to just get anything like this while we waited for the ACTUAL next installment. So so so massively disappointed.

This was a re-telling of Blood and Ash from Cas’s perspective. Some new plot development. But mostly character development getting to know Cas better.

I have mixed feelings about the book just cause it was basically FBAA but from Cas’s POV. It was enjoyable but the “present chapters” were boring and pointless. I enjoyed the first and last present chapters and the ending was *chefs kiss* but I do wish that the present chapters were more than what it was.
The last chapter was a sudden whirlwind and I can’t believe I’m expected to wait to see what’s next like excuse me, but that’s rude lol

okayyy this book was interesting and so fun to read from cas’ retrospective pov but also the plot did not move forward like at all so this also could’ve been a good spin off book
