The whole comic gets three stars, Gwen's story gets four. But I already read that story in Vol. 0: Most Wanted. I'm not sure where I went wrong, but I thought Edge of Spider-Verse was going to give me more of her story. Instead, I read a bunch of other short stories in other universes I didn't care for.

Love the Spiderverse. It's a great way to toy around with the basics of Spiderman, a series that had always seemed stale to me. The idea of Spiderverse has made reconsider the rest too. Love it all now.

This was a fun what if scenario but I did forget whether or not I had finished it... Which isn't a great sign. Still, I'm excited to re-visit the character in her own series once I'm done with the Spider-verse.

oh my god, I am rereading this after seeing Across the Spider-verse (...4 times), and I am in love with the way they brought Gwen's story onto the big screen! I have such a bad memory that I forgot all about this after my first read, so I didn't notice how true they stayed to the comic and Gwen's origin story. The way they recreated the comic panels through gorgeous, absolutely stunning animation, and even added bits here and there which were not originally written (I just wanted to be special... like you... Gwen. gwen? who's gwen?), and just the emotions carried out in that opening scene (I cried all four times watching her opening scene) when there was so little to work with here amazes me (okay, I don't know if there is an extended version of her entire backstory, but most of it is crammed into one single across-page in this issue).
Every spider-person goes through some extremely traumatizing stuff, and Gwen is no exception. Her story is so incredibly heartbreaking, I can't imagine carrying the guilt of accidentally killing your best friend (and have him die in your arms), while your father hunts for you for the murder of said best friend. This comic, although short, conveys the struggles and responsibilities Gwen has to face being Spider-Woman. However, maybe it's because I'm accustomed to ItSV, I don't particularly enjoy this art style? But it's possible they have different artists for the other issues, so we'll see! I adore Gwen so much and hopefully I will actually start reading all her comics this time around :)
PS, I played the AtSV soundtrack while reading this, and it works so well!

I really only read this for the Spider-Gwen portion of it. I like the artist and the art direction of the story. However according to Goodreads this is her book #0 but while reading this either I wasn't picking things up or something but it felt like I missed a previous portion of the story. I still liked it enough to read more though.
