i read this for my horror reading challenge then realised its not even tagged as horror so that’s on me tbh

anyway this was good, i quite like this author’s writing, however i don’t enjoy smut at all so that’s just on me tbh.

i found the concept quite intriguing, but i guess i wish it had been a bit more, fleshed out? maybe less sex and more plot, idk.

emotional mysterious medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? Character
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? Yes
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes
This could have been a great read about religion and the experience of a trans Latino person – if the author hadn't been exposed to be racefaking.

For this reason I'm leaving my only 0 star review despite the story itself not deserving it to discourage others from buying it and supporting someone taking up space in a minority group they don't belong to. Go buy books from actual queer poc instead!

it wasn't bad, i just read it cause i realised i bought it months ago on my kindle and i was waiting to go to the library to pick up some new books later in the day and decided for a quick few hour read. the information about the author was revealed to me 82% through the book and now here we are. whilst reading i wasn't super into it, i was very much more "let's just get this done"

Author has been revealed to not be anything that they claimed to be. Therefore, I no longer support this person (and any of their previous or future pen names) or any of their work.

beautiful story telling, i enjoyed the premise of creation and the submission in this book. some of the highlights i took are just amazingly crafted sentences.

Author was exposed as a race faker who has bullied, lied, manipulated and harassed other for years. Do not support them

I was able to snag this from my library. Right in the middle of reading it, the controversy of the author popped up. And because of that decided instead of making it harder on myself (since I was in fact very much enjoying it) I decided to DNF it.

Finished this and went on reddit to find similar reccs... and found out the author is a lying liar who lies. (I think I may be cursed now. I keep reading #authorsbehavingbadly right before they're called out for the bad things...)
This was posted one hour before I marked it as read on storygraph (LOL good god):

Evidence came out of the author claiming to be latine when they are not and are in fact white. Not only are they doing this once, but they are a routine offender of this with multiple aliases over the years.
