“Woosh woosh.” 💔
That’s the sound of my heart giving out.

Dominic didn’t just break me... he shattered every last piece I’d glued together from The Finish Line. 😭

Reading his story felt like standing barefoot in a storm, with Kate Stewart ripping open old wounds while whispering, "You asked for this."

The duet narration? Perfection. Every sigh, every pause—Dom felt so real I kept bracing for lightning. ⚡️

I wanted to wrap him up in safety, beg fate for mercy, and maybe slap him a little too.

Kate, you did it again. Another brutal masterpiece wrapped in tenderness. Another punch to my gut—and I’ll gladly take it. 🤌🏻

This is going to be LONG! Since I made notes for my review as I read the book:

I was so excited to buy this book! It came out on my birthday so I woke up & instantly treated myself by ordering it. Then it came in & I put off reading it knowing what was coming. I’m ALWAYS reading - but knowing this was my next read I put off picking up a book for a week because I knew I wasn’t getting a HEA with this one.

I was okay when I first started it. But my stomach dropped & my heart hurt, knowing what happens, at that moment in Delphines house: “she is too beautiful. Too smart. But too young. This girl will be your undoing.”

I was conflicted after The Finish Line but after reading this I know, Dom & Cecelia were supposed to be together. I believe she loved Sean & her & Tobias found love through heartbreak but her & Dom were end game. Period. Their connection was nothing like it was with S & T. Which makes this entire series even more heartbreaking than it was before.

I LOVED being able to read about all the ‘in betweens’ - the moments with them that we never saw in the first three books. I love seeing the loving side of Dom. But I couldn’t really enjoy it knowing what was coming - my heart broke a little more the further in the book I got. I found myself tearing up at beautiful moments between them, knowing it would end:

This book isn't just a spin-off; it's a masterful re-entry into a beloved world, brimming with the emotional depth, intricate storytelling, and unforgettable characters that only Stewart can craft. Far from a conclusion, this novel serves as a powerful and compelling foundation for what promises to be an extraordinary new series, already leaving me desperate for more.

From the very first chapter, "One Last Rainy Day" effortlessly pulls you back into a familiar universe, but with a fresh perspective and exciting new trajectories. The narrative skillfully weaves together past echoes with present challenges, setting the stage for new mysteries and relationships to unfold. What truly sets "One Last Rainy Day" apart is its unflinching emotional honesty and lyrical prose. Stewart writes with a poetic touch, crafting sentences that are both beautiful and piercing. She doesn't shy away from pain or challenge, but she balances it with moments of profound beauty, hope, and resilience. The book is an ode to the power of memory, the weight of a legacy, and the quiet strength found in forging new paths. There were moments that brought tears to my eyes, not just from sorrow, but from the sheer beauty of the narrative and the undeniable authenticity of the human experience portrayed.

✨️Book review ✨️ One Last Rainy Day by Kate Stewart
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved the Ravenhood series so obviously had to read Dom's story.

I knew it would hurt and I would cry... but I read it anyway.

I'm glad I did read it, as it was nice to read things from his POV and as to what he was dealing with as well as how he was feeling.

Still one of my fave series ❤️ and this quote will forever live in my heart 'We love rainy days, don't we, baby?'

Ok Ok I know I should loveeee this book and don’t get me wrong this series changed my life but…. There was so much detail and extra in this one that I fell like I would have loved it more if I had just reread the series. I found myself getting kind of confuse while I was reading. That being said the last 20% was worth all the confusion I cried like audibly sobbed at parts of the ending so thats why I am giving it 4 stars because dang it closed a chapter in my heart on this story!

I LOVED getting to see the events from Flock and Exodus from Dom’s POV. This book brought so much more depth to all of the characters. It’s also interesting seeing why some of the events from Flock and Exodus happened the way the did because of the insight this book brings.
Dom carried so many secrets. Watching him grapple with his inner turmoil regarding his loyalties and his views on love kept drawing me in because even through that, he had secrets to keep that weren’t revealed until the end.
I also loved the POVs from the different characters at the end of the book. I will say I was absolutely fine until I read Sean’s POV. That’s when the dam broke and I ugly cried.

This book was just so beautifully written
