Peter Riley and Maddie Wilson get the shock of their lives when they are contacted by Miles Lambert.
There was a baby swap when their sons were born! Pete and Maddie's son Theo is the biological child of Miles and his wife, Lucy. Miles and Lucy's son David is actually Pete and Maddie's child.

The two couples originally decide to keep their own children and be a part of each other's lives. However, a plan to sue the hospital for the switch uncovers Miles' frightening ulterior motives, and Pete and Maddie's lives get caught up in a child custody nightmare.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this thriller. The screws kept tightening as more and more things went wrong for Pete and Maddie. It was a bit of a slow-burn tale, but Miles' psychotic game of one-upmanship was always interesting, as were the various legal loopholes he was exploiting to his advantage.

Alas, the slow-burn approach went on too long. The book has little chance to deviate from legal drama to proper thriller. Before you know it, the end-game and climax is upon you, and this book takes the easy-way-out approach I have seen in far, far, far, far too many thrillers lately and basically completely ruins all the psychological mind games that had taken place beforehand. Seriously, I'm so sick of this being the way so many thrillers end these days!
SpoilerSick of the antagonist making your life hell? Murder him!
It always feels as if the author has written themselves into a corner and, realising the book needs an ending, takes a stupid way out.

Very disappointing way to end what was otherwise a gripping book, and one that had been on its way to one of my favourites of the year before that stupid cop-out ending. Ugh.

good

Another great read by JP Delaney. This was such an interesting one - having a 2.5 y/o myself this really made me think! There were just some random strings that never got tied throughout the book nor in the end, so I was left not exactly knowing the ins and outs of it all. It left a lot to be assumed or still a mystery. Overall, very good story.

Good book, short chapters make it easy and the overall plot is super good. I felt relatability and in the end you really don’t know if some of the narrators are valid.

enjoyed this book. I didn’t know much about it before I used a credit for it on audible. The narrators were very good and I liked the way each chapter was written.

The story is about 2 families who discover their babies had been switched in the NICU. It’s an interesting premise and did have some good twists.
