I had this book sitting in my kindle for a while. I am not sure why I never reached for it and I am kicking myself for not reading this sooner.
This was a page turner.
I could not put it down until I learned how it was going to end.

Pete and Maddie's life is turned upside down when they learn the news their child was switched at birth with another. The other family has come forward and at first to Pete and Maddie it appears they want to work together in the best interest of the children. But really, narcissist Miles is setting them up. Right away, I disliked Miles...a lot.

The story gets more tense when Pete and Maddie are under fire for every little thing in their life which Miles has worked with his team to blow way out of proportion.

I was stressed out wondering how they were going to get out of this predicament and what was going to happen with both the boys - Theo and David.

I could not ever really say who it was that switched the babies in the NCIU and when the truth finally comes out, I am left thinking "wow"

Such a well written book, captivating and never a dull moment.
My first five star book of 2021!

Playing Nice by JP Delaney is about your worst nightmare- learning that the child you have been raising actually isn’t yours, and worse, that you may lose him.
Peter and Maddie have been raising Theo, a rambunctious little 2 year old and going through the motions of daily life. Their life is upended when someone knocks on their door and tells them that he is the father of their child.
So begins a nightmare journey to prove they are fit parents and to avoid losing their child. But there is much more to the story!
This is a well-crafted psychological thriller that will keep you guessing as to the depths of one’s psychosis, and the ending will surprise you.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of Playing Nice.

I had heard great things about this book but even though I didn’t find it so, I really loved the ending chapters of the book.

Pete Riley answers the door one morning to a parents worst nightmare. Miles Lambert gives the devestating news that their sons were swapped at birth. Their lives are thrown upside down as they try to navigate a plan to share their children's lives but as disturbing information comes to light everything starts to fall apart.

I struggled to get into the story at the beginning. None of the characters are particularly likeable and it takes a while to get going. I actually abandoned it for a few weeks and then gave it a second go. Once I got back into it I was hooked on the mystery and the psychological suspense of what would happen next. This was originally going to be a 3 star review but the ending was perfect! My heart was racing as I willed Pete and Maddie to find a solution and I was not disappointed!
