I haven't read these books in about 8 years, they're very Teen Fiction (makes sense, thats the target age) but I'm having a very good time. We love ✨️nostalgia✨️ and reliving the peak dystopian fiction days

This book is an awesome dystopian and romance. It’s a great read and the first book in the series.

Don't read. It's not worth your time.
I never thought I would find a dystopian book that I wouldn't like but I was wrong. The only reason I continued reading this book was because I wanted to know what happened in the end and I hate not finishing books.
But seriously, don't waste your time reading this unless you have no other book recs.
I don't wanna sound like a hater, but I hate the way the author writes, and I would get in constant reading slumps just from this book.
Don't waste your time with this one trust me. 😭🙏

Bought it for the very pretty cover, didn't know I'd like it so much. The writing was quite unusual in a positive way, I didn't really hate any of the characters in the book which is rather unusual for me, and although the plot got slow at some points it kept my interest, and I now can't wait for the next book in the series, [b:Crossed|9794437|Crossed (Matched, #2)|Ally Condie|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1299873958s/9794437.jpg|14449475].

If you know me at all you know that I absolutely love dystopia. So when the opportunity came about to read one of the most anticipated dystopias of 2010, of course I took it. Does it live up to the hype? My answer is yes.

If you are looking for the action and rebellion of The Hunger Games, this book isn't for you. In Matched, everything is subtle. The control of the government is quite and subtle, at first. Cassia's relationship with Ky is subtle but powerful. But all these aspects come together to make a incredibly engaging book.

The thing that I want to rave about the most is, the world building. Ally Condie has created a scary dystopian world that is totally believable. I've read other reviews comparing it The Giver by Lois Lowry. It's been so many years since I read The Giver that I never considered them to be alike while reading this. Although, I kept thinking this book was like a YA version of 1984 by George Orwell. Just not as scary. But since The Giver comparison was brought to my attention, I must say that this could be a more grown up version of it.

Cassia's world is perfect. Everything is decided for you from birth. You are matched with the person most compatible and who you will produce the best offspring with. Your food is given to you with all the nutrients and vitamins that your body needs. You job is picked for you based on your skills. Cancer has been eradicated. Everyone is happy.

Cassia was a captivating character. Her growth throughout the book was incredible. Not many authors can squeeze that much character development into one book and make it flow smoothly. Condie did it with ease. At first, Cassia has absolute trust in The Society. But one mistake changes everything in her life and she begins to mistrust The Society. She begins to ask the questions that others will not. And her subtle rebellion begins.

Ky and Cassia's relationship is truly powerful. I can't think of any other fictional relationships to compare them to. Their love for one another was strong and passionate, but also inconspicuous and soft. It was one of the best romances I have read in a long time. But while the relationship determines the events in the book, The Society and Cassia's thoughts still play a much bigger role.

Overall, this was a pretty incredible book. I already want to read it again. The world building is magnificent. You won't want to miss it. Yes, there is a lot of hype, but I don't think you will be disappointed.

I read this series the first time in middle school and really enjoyed it. Super similar to the hunger game series.
I’ve liked this as an audio book because it’s easy to listen to.

pretty slow to start, but it was pretty good overall. it has some good ideas that need a little bit more detail.
i'll read the next ones just to see what happens.
