This is a beautifully written memoir mixed with insightful social criticism about what it means to be queer and our relationships with our mothers especially. it's one of those books that finds words for feelings I've never known how to describe, it's painfully raw and honest and exactly what I needed at the moment. I want to buy a copy of it for everyone I know <3

I loooved the writing in this book. Lots of gender theory, complicated mother/child relationship, wild trans childhood, alcoholism/addiction, and reflections on forgiveness in this book. I thought it was quite spectacular, and it’s definitely one of my new favorite memoirs.
