"you asked me why an open world frightens me, jase? because it gives me nowhere to hide. that's been my prison for eleven years, but trust me, i didn't create it."

this was so much better than i thought it was going to be, although the enemies to lovers part did turn lovers a little toooo fast for my liking. but the pacing was great, the storyline and side plots were really intriguing and all of the characters were so well developed alongside the world they were living in. it proved for a really immersive reading experience.

my tbr is currently much too big and my bank account is not letting be splurge on any more books, but i would definitely be interested in reading the sequel, should i get around to it

I absolutely loved the Remnant Chronicles series, and, for the first 60 pages or so of this book, I feared it wouldn’t live up to my expectations. However, thankfully, I was very wrong!

The story and its characters were captivating. I love love LOVED all of the moments with/things we learned about the original Remnant Chronicles characters, and I loved getting to know Kazi, Jase, and all of the other new characters.

Reading the Remnant Chronicles before this duology isn’t a necessity, but it definitely adds additional layers, which I appreciated. There are so many parallels between Lia and Kazi, their experiences, their feelings, etc.

  • forced proximity
  • dagger to the throat
  • knife wife vibes
  • kinda enemies to lovers but also i don’t know if i would call them enemies they just hate and are annoyed by each other
  • both love interests perspectives!!!
  • they just love each other so much but don’t wanna admit it
  • pretty boy nickname <3
  • short chapters
  • the ballenger family has such an interesting dynamic and i liked seeing them so protective of each other

This book was so so so good, and I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. Literally each time I put it down I was excited/happy when I got to read more of it, and it was very easy to read, and very enjoyable. And I am very excited to read the sequel but after that ending i need it now cause i’m confused.
