I haven’t read any fantasy in a hot minute but I think this was a good one to read to get me back into it! I like how after the first 20 pages or so I was able to fully comprehend the fantasy world without much effort. I also love a dual POV and an enemies to lovers trope (also lowkey has the forbidden lovers thing)!

It was definitely a slow burn romance wise. I think the book had a pretty good pace, maybe a little slow at some parts but not too bad.

Honestly the thing that annoyed me the most was how the FMM being constantly described as an untouchable warrior but like we see she makes mistakes that seem a little obvious… maybe she blinded by love though so who am I to judge.

Overall I liked Jase’s character a lot and hearing the history of his family was VERY interesting I almost wish there was a book on that! Kazi was also likable and gave me Inej vibes form Six of Crows (except Inej is actually untouchable lmao). I’ll be interested to see what happens with them in the second book.

i got bored; the characters are repetitive and the sequence of events wasn't enticing enough. it was a lot of straight people doing straight people things and having straight people arguments.

This is 70% romance and 30% plot. I have a thing for subplot romances when it comes to fantasy books and slow burn ones. The story flows in a fast paced motion and world building is easy to follow actually though for the first half of reading, I had to get used with the terminologies, after, I still do. There isn't much suspense surrounding it as plot twists can be identified at ease. One thing I really love about the book are the riddles Kazi and Jase engage in, like its so enchanting. The theme focuses on love and betrayals which I think is good enough since it mostly consists of romantic events and scenes but somewhat on the vague side. The Ballenger history took up a big percentage on the book and that should've been Book 1 so Dance of Thieves would've been a trilogy, to be honest.

This book is perfect for any readers transitioning from Wattpad to more traditional publishing. Dance of Thieves has almost every trope you can think of. Dagger on the love interest’s neck? Check. Chained and forced to work together? Check. Enemies to Lovers? Check. Within the first 100 pages of the book, the main couple goes from enemies to friends to lovers, then right back to enemies again! The book is very centered around the main characters’ relationship, but still leaves enough time for a very interesting plot.
