I don't know what I like about this series, but it was a good read, as well as, the first book.

Re-reading this was literally for my younger self, who carried so much teenage angst, and for my present self, who carries so much nostalgia.

4.5 // Perfect ending to If I Stay. :)

I gobbled up If I Stay and couldn't imagine the sequel to be even better. It is. Loved it.

This book was honestly absolute perfection. I had a really tough time connecting to 'If I Stay' (in the end, I didn't really - I connected much more to the film), but I still wanted to read 'Where She Want' especially after reading so many positive reviews, and boy am I glad I did. This book made me get so invested in Adam's world, in Adam's life, in Adam's mind, in Adam's sorrow - basically in all things Adam. This book felt like it had a sort of continuity that 'If I Stay' didn't.

Picking up Adam and Mia's story three years later was a wise move, I think, and even though they had gone their separate ways, I love that their stories were still so intertwined and how that very aspect was revealed throughout to the very end of the book. Their interactions made you feel both of their pain really and I feel this book provided a great deal of closure to their story that the first book didn't. It gave a slightly more definitive ending here.

I love that Gayle Forman started many chapters off with Adam's lyrics from the album he wrote to grieve Mia's absence, the lyrics spoke volumes. I think they were great intros to those chapters. Though I like how the last chapter ended, I'm glad there was a mini forward to another three years later with an article about Adam and lyrics from his new songs. I think it fills in a lot of the blanks that readers may be wondering about since there's no epilogue.

Basically, I absolutely loved this book - if you've read 'If I Stay', then this is a must read. A lot of it was very painful to read, and I did find myself crying in quite a few places, but it's such a satisfying read all the same and a very satisfying ending (though it may be cliche, I think the way it's written does make it seem cliched at all). Just a really excellent book. 5 stars all around!
emotional

Read this right after I watched the movie, I just had to know how it ended. The movie was fantastic, I cried, I did not expect to cry, maybe a bit teary eyes but not actual tears.

A good sequel from Adam POV
