LOVED. so many people have said the sorcery of thorns is better, but i am so in love with this book. I love sorcery of thorns and i love romance but this book!! I found out it had no romance early on and was immediately turned off by it, but then i fell in love with artemisia and the revenants friendship. so wholesome but also not bc demon. I have a soft spot for evil creatures that learn to love. The book was fast paced and i was never bored. I have enjoyed everything margaret has written so far, I hope there is a sequel

Not going to lie, it lost me about 250 pages in, but the writing, world building, & humor were stunning nevertheless, so I couldn't get myself to give it anything lower than 4 stars. Artemisia's rivener was my favorite character hands down, and I enjoyed learning about all the different spirits in this world. I did enjoy Sorcery of Thorns more, but I loved the vibes in this one as well.

I dont know if this book was slow, or if my attention was just not set on reading, but it felt like the book dragged a little bit. However, it was a phenomenal story and I'm really really hoping for more along this storyline in the future. The whole concept was fascinating, and there's so many places the author could take this story. Despite myself having trouble getting immersed in the story, I still recommend this highly to other readers.
