Not as great as the first, but still delightful nonetheless. I loved Fern, but something about the timing of some of her cursing didn’t work for me. Very cute, very cozy, not a ton of action, but still very fun

Such an easy, enjoyable read. I really enjoyed getting to know each of the characters as the story progressed. It’s like a child’s book but for adults, nothing too scary or intense - just a lovely low-stake, chilled paced, queer, fantasy!

Absolutely loved this, I loved seeing Viv again and why she decided to open her coffee shop and the adventure that eventually led her there, and the epilogue made me so happy!

For fans of D&D side quests, sweet no/low spice romance, and unexpected friend groups - this story has it all. It's a sparkling cozy fantasy with just enough mystery and adventure mixed in to keep the plot lively.

I loved this book even more than Legends & Lattes! This has all the cozy, high fantasy vibes of the Baldree’s first book but I really liked the pacing of this one. I also felt like the higher stakes/adventuring plot line was strung nicely throughout the entire book. I want to read Legends & Lattes again because I would like it more than my first read through, but I think I connected more with the small town, bookstore vibes more than the big city coffeeshop vibes too. I need more books just like this!!

I think I enjoyed this even more than Legends and Lattes. Young!Viv is so engaging, and her frustration at being injured and unable to get on with her life as she had planned is very convincing. A brilliant and varied cast of characters, and lots going on. And a bookshop! And baked goods!

This was a fun read! Well written. I love the characters and the book was so easy to read. Viv gets injured and has to lay low in a nearby town while the rest of her mercenary group continues to hunt a powerful necromancer. To pass time, Viv helps out at the local bookstore and eats at the local bakery.  As she heals she becomes more familiar with the town and its people.
