I think… I’m just not fond of officer/military romance lmao. Also Aidan is too “alpha” for my tastes. I also wanted more romance, I didn’t really care much about the mystery/thriller subplot about the spy. And… Malby needs to stop putting all these body shaming comments in her book lol so unnecessary. But it was fun sometimes… maybe ill read her other books if im horny or something lol.

What happens when a fling turns out to be more than you ever hoped? Aiden is one sexy airman with top secret job! I loved the chemistry between Aiden and Maddie! But can their budding relationship survive the secrets?

The descriptions of food , family and local make this the perfect read!

Great multi cultural romance with a touch of suspense!

Love is a partnership, not to be dominated by one or the other.  This is the main lesson that Aidan and Maddie struggle to learn in Singapore Fling.

If you are looking for a book full of hot romance, culture, and even some intrigue, this might be the book (and series) you want to pick up for your next read.  I became immersed in this book and enjoyed every moment of the story.  It is definitely sizzling due to the food and the sex scenes but at the same time, both Aidan and Maddie are holding parts of themselves back from each other.  Is it apprehension?  Or maybe it is how they grew up or the job they hold and expectations.  There is one line that devastated me because no one should feel this way: "Apart from herself, nobody considered Maddie their number one priority."  But on the flip side, she embraced her dual heritage - Filipino and French.  It made her unique and was an asset that drew Aidan into her life.

The dialogue between Aidan and Maddie was sensual, comedic, and loving.  No, life wasn't easy for them and they both embark on paths that may not be right for their relationship, but this is a path that all relationships must endure to become something solid and lasting.  Because Aidan is military, he is used to being direct and to the point, and perhaps a bit harsh with his comments but wanting Maddie (and some input from his brothers) reshapes his rough and tough attitude to something a little softer, at least with Maddie.  Maddie realizes that she too has to bend and perhaps Aidan has her best interests in mind.

I thought the definitions at the beginning of each chapter were a nice touch to introduce words I may not know and define them before they were used in the book.   The descriptions of the island, various locations they visited, the food all added to the picture in my mind as if I was there with them.  Not all of the food sounded good to me (I personally don't like seafood) but I'm intrigued by the Hainanese chicken rice and will need to seek out this recipe and give it a try.

Some of my favorite lines:

"We've already established our chemistry; I don't want to find somebody else."

"Do you only go at one speed, Aidan?  The speed of light?

"Humility is a virtue you clearly do not have."

"You shouldn't wear perfume if you don't want anybody to smell you."

"He was coffee.  Black, no sugar, the way she preferred it: strong, hot, addictive."

Overall I enjoyed the book and give it 4 paws up.

Singapore Fling by Maida Malby is a 2019 EOT publication.

Exotic locations, high drama, intrigue and sizzling hot romance!

Maddie is enjoying every minute of her life in Singapore, while working in a public relations firm. However, she is having trouble getting Aidan, her best friend’s future brother-in-law, out her mind. She hasn’t seen him in the couple of months since they shared a romantic interlude.

However, when Aidan shows up in Singapore, the sparks reignite, big time, spawning a super intense affair. However, a stunning revelation could throw ice cold water on the couple’s fiery passion.

Excruciating suspense, and foreign intrigue ensues, leaving Maddie and Aidan’s future hanging in the balance…

I loved the combination of sights, sounds, flavors and cultures mixed into this story. Our heroine is of mixed race, half French- half Filipino, adding a much needed shot of diversity in the romance category. The locale is vibrant and full of culture and savory cuisine that will leave you salivating!

And speaking of salivating…

Fans of military heroes and strong, take charge alpha males, are going to love Aidan. Maddie and Aidan are an unusual pair in some ways, but they have an ‘off the charts’ chemistry with each other. The independent, career driven, Maddie, is the perfect match for Aidan. The two may believe they are enjoying a ‘no strings attached’ Singapore fling, but that soon develops into something much more serious. I pulled for them, even though the obstacles the couple faces do seem insurmountable. Will true love win out?

Overall, this is a unique contemporary romance, making it a nice change of pace from the standard romantic formula. The sex scenes are hot, hot, hot, but- for me, it took little too much precedence at the beginning of the story. However, the plot does move forward onto more substantial ground, and really picks up in the second half. I was turning pages as fast as possible, realizing that I’d become very invested in this couple and their happy ever after!

Romance fans who welcome diversity, enjoy steamy romance, military heroes, and an emotional happily ever after will love this book!!

Having enjoyed book one in the Carpe Diem Chronicles, I made sure I snagged a copy of Singapore Fling recently, when an opportunity presented itself. And once it arrived in the mail, I dove in almost immediately, reveling in all the feels and feeling upset once I reached the final pages and I once again had to say goodbye to this world.
One of Malby's strengths is, of course, her gift with recreating the atmosphere of the places she sets her books, from the locations to the food. I now am desperate to make a trip to Singapore for the food alone. Word of caution: Do not read on an empty stomach!
And while Maddie and Aidan were introduced in Boracay Vows, I didn't know what to expect of either of them, except perhaps that Aidan is a bit more arrogant than Blake. But while some characters may call him "Alphahole Aidan," giving me a bit of pause initially, given the way I attach the term to some more loathsome heroes, I can't help but feel like the nickname is undeserved. He's a bit more on the brooding side, but I could truly empathize with his dedication to his work, especially when his relationship with Maddie led to a possible conflict of interest and him having to make a tough choice.
And Maddie is also a wonderful character. I love how her relationships with people are explored, delving into the fact that she didn't have a conventional family upbringing leading to her valuing the family and friends she does have and keeping them close. It forms a compelling contrast to Aidan's more conventional family and further informs the conflict between them in a wonderful way.
Once again, Malby delivers a colorful, sumptuous read, and one that leaves me waiting with baited breath for the next. I enthusiastically recommend this to fans of sexy, fun multicultural contemporary romances.
