Audio for first 2/3, empathetically narrated by Sean Pratt. Thoroughly and compassionately reported by Kolker, alternating the sad, gripping story of the Galvin family with the changing landscape and research into mental illness. For upcoming book discussion. Highly recommended.

Fascinating and compelling topic. Obviously. But the format (some family member names were bold at the start of chapters to indicate the chapter was about them but the bold wasn’t very obvious on my Kindle. Also, jumping from familial narrative to highly biological language was odd, even if perhaps necessary to carry the story forward.) There were also sections early in the book where a thread was just dropped off with ellipses without enough content to provide the reader with direction. How odd!
