It just wasn't capturing my interest as much as I'd have liked. Felt like an effort to read. It's perhaps a book for another time.

Given the subject matter an incredibly easy read. Love how the book is broken up between the family ever increasing struggles with schizophrenia and the history of the scientific research. This also is a sensitive approach to a story that could quite easily have been sensationalised. Kolker manages to highlight the humanity of the Galvin family. Really looking forward to the OBC discussion on this.

Very powerful book. It is not just about the family but like a ‘Henrietta Lacks’ about mental illness.

Having a disabled adult child myself, I admired Mimi greatly. What a difficult life she lead, but apparently with grace. She had flaws, but gosh, it seems unkind to find fault. This was inspiring.
