ebuset dah... baca ni novel rasanya kayak lagi diajak masuk ke drama keluarga yg super kusut + full of toxic love + dendam kesumat yg ga berkesudahan.

soap opera AF! excited to see what emerell fennell does based off this content…

Wuthering Heights I’m so sorry I doubted you in the past. The real horror of this book is looking at my old annotations where I am surprised halfway through the book that Edgar lives at Thrushcross Grange even though that is like key information already established ten billion times

I started reading this quite hesitantly, thinking it would probably not be for me and it would become a chore to get through, but I actually raced through reading it and was quite captured by the story. I thought it was told really well and didn't linger too long on lengthy descriptions or scene setting which other classics I have read often tend to. I liked that it was mostly told from a servants perspective and I liked most of the characters and they felt real, if a little too prone to saying every thought conveniently aloud to the narrator.
I was surprised to find the character of Heathcliff so entirely awful and irredeemable. I thought he might have been a flawed or rough character but he was so completely one note in being vile and vicious! I found him the most flat as a result as it seems unrealistic to me that someone could utterly devote their entire being to spite, with nothing to bring themselves happiness but others suffering. Especially when the resentments he held for the people around him were not even for that bad stuff, and taking revenge on their children after the actual people resented have died is crazy.
I enjoyed the authors wide vocabulary too and at times, especially near the beginning there were some comical moments.
