I really enjoyed this book and it’s characters, the romance just felt sort of half-hearted to me. I feel like we didn’t get to know Malachi very well, and we didn’t see a whole lot of Emoni’s personal feelings on the relationship, mostly just what she thought Tyrone’s opinion was.

Got Damn, Eizabeth Acevedo! I can't believe you've done this to me twice now. I recall reading the entirety of Poet X in one plane ride from the East Coast to the West Coast. It is that good. So then when I heard about this new book, I was all, naaaaah. Can't possibly be as good as the first. They don't call it sophomore slump for nothing, after all. But there I was and here I am drawn into the beautiful world with all of my senses opened up and I'm also hungry af. Emoni is such a great character. Any young talent agent worth their salt should be tracking you down and optioning the rights to make this a series. I truly did not want this story to end.
So I hear you have a new book coming out. That one's gonna be trash, right? Right???

Surprisingly I really enjoyed this! I was slight hesitant going in because this is not usually a book I would gravitate towards but I’m so glad I did! This was such an easy read, but also a really enjoyable read. I’m happy I decided to pick this one up!
