My second book from this author and I’m definitely not disappointed. The Summer We Fell is a book I read when it first came out and I still think about often even though so much time has passed. So when I saw book two I knew I had to continue the series. The Summer I Saved You did not let me down. She had angst and tension, and if you know anything about me at all - that’s what I live for.

Lucie has loved Caleb ever since she first saw him jump off the dock with his friends when she was little. Now, she’s all grown up, freshly divorced, and back in her old neighborhood to try to get her life back together. She never expected Caleb to live in the house where he grew up. And she really didn’t expect him to be her new boss.

Highlights:
📌 Childhood Neighbor’s
📌 Workplace
📌 Grumpy X Sunshine
📌 Single Mom
📌 Boss X Employee

The Summer I Saved You: The Summers, Book 2
By: Elizabeth O'Roark
🎧 Audiobook Narrated by: Robert Hatchet and Samantha Brentmoor
Length: 8 hrs and 18 mins
📖 Ebook Read Using Kindle Unlimited

I'm afraid I didn't connect with this story as much. It felt like a one-sided battle that Lucie was fighting alone, too much of the time.😌 I know he was damaged, but it all felt a bit over the top when he about faced at the end, after practically making zero concessions prior to that.🤷🏻‍♀️

I adored Henrey, Sophie, and Molly!😍

I will give book 3 a try as it's about Kate, Caleb's ex-wife. I really want her side, I feel like she was wrecked by their loss!💔 I'm sure his failure to accept his grief was agonising for her, too, so sad.😭

The audiobook was ok. Again, there was much effort put forth to change voices for different characters, etc.

I'm 100% certain others had a different experience with this read, so please try it.🙏🏼

A fab little read for a day or a weekend. O'Roark is a queen of angst and this one was a little more ebb and flow rather than full on angst which gave me breathers while reading.

Lucie was a single mum of two children, one with some additional learning needs. These kids added to the richness of the story without hijacking it. She was heading for divorce from the most obnoxious individual. Caleb was a next-door crush from her tweens and they met again through work.

Lucie was well fleshed out and Caleb a little less-so. Caleb's grief felt unattended to in this story and I had to shelve my thoughts related to that. Lucie's storyline was vivid and interesting. I wanted a bit more insight at the end about what had happened with Caleb's company.

Overall this was a satisfying read and I don't know how I feel about the next couple (for obvious reasons once you've read this book).

Best out of the series in my opinion. It worked well. I liked the development of the characters.
