Bold, bizarre, beautiful, almost impossible to describe.  It pulls its influences from every corner of science fiction and still remains wholly original.

Had Okwu perished there would be riots in the streets.

Really interesting premise with a great protagonist and amazing world, cultural and technological concepts bogged down by lack of consistent and logical plotting when it comes to the conflict presented in the story. It sort of failed in execution, resolving things too cleanly, which makes some of it highly illogical. Maybe it's my inexperience judging short form works but this wasn't more than a 2.5 out of 5 for me.

This rating is because I'm not super into sci fi. I think if I spent more time reading the genre, it would be at least four stars.

This is the omnibus edition of the three Binti novellas. It's a very enjoyable arc.

A good trilogy for sci-fi! A wide range of aliens to show how the universe can be unique, along with expanding on humanity's cultures. Though it is called a trilogy, I'm glad Okorafor decided to add the final chapter of Binti's story, as it helped truly finish her story.

I went into this with a lot of excitement. Though book 1 had some repetitiveness to it (otjize) it was overall pretty captivating. After that, I felt like there was a constant loop of material with minimal story.

These stories are an amazing collection of some of the best contemporary science fiction ever. Making us question how much balance we need between traditionalism and change, while having interesting, well rounded characters and worldvuilding that feels exceptionally natural
