REVIEW: I love a good psychological thriller about a con artist! This book leaves you questioning is the anti-hero really the villain, or is she delivering justice? Meg is a smart, patient, girls girl that I questioned the entire book. I couldn’t help but empathize with Kat as her relationship with her fiancé comes into question.

SUMMARY: Kat is a reporter and knows Meg is a con artist and tries to expose her by working undercover. But as Kat’s life starts to fall apart she thinks she has become Meg’s newest target! Meg is an experienced con artist that has been scamming rich men for years. Her latest target is personal, a man who was unkind to her mother. Who is really the cat and who is the mouse in this scenario?

I read this book for a book club. I remember the moment I picked it up I had a gut feeling I wouldn’t enjoy it and I didn’t lol

I appreciated its feminist themes and massaging but overall I found the story not very engaging. I can’t put my finger on why though. Just something about threw me off—but maybe I need dampen my expectations of thrillers. This book is more of a slow burn than a fast paced, edge of your seat kind of page turner. Also I feel like we got to know more of Meg than Kat so it’d make their switching POVs feel unbalance in my opinion.

If any of that doesn’t bother you, then I’d still give it a read. It’s only around 250 pages and still pretty good.

(Also be warned: the font is very tiny which was another thing that bothered me!)

I picked this up on a whim from the library and it immediately grabbed my attention and made me want to keep reading. It was an easy read and nothing overly dramatic, but still a really well written and enjoyable story.

One of the best books I’ve read this year! The love and hate relationship I developed with both Meg and Kat was so vibrant - there were a few times I just wanted to physically shake some sense into them! I had a lot of fun following and almost playing along.
