I've known for two full books now what the twist is going to be, just get to the point please
I feel like this would have been a great standalone book instead of a series with very repetitive conflicts

I’ve DEMOLISHED every other M/M book this author has written in the same universe as this one, but I just couldn’t get on board with this series.
I just didn’t like Nix or Yejung as characters, let alone their relationship.

I swear that Chani has a tap straight into my brain or something. I recognize that these books are not perfect. A lot of the writing style is going to be based on preference because a lot of the events are going to be character progression, not plot. I'll get more into this later.
If you liked the previous books, skip my review, and just go read it. This isn't going to disappoint you. It's going to be exact what you are craving. The rest of this review is just going to be my opinion on plot vs character progression because I like to ramble.
If this is your first time reading one of Chani's books, I don't know what you're doing on the third book of this series however, maybe this'll give you some insight on where or not to grab the first book in this series.
I am firmly in the camp of character progression. I love character moments, character growth, relationship growth, and all of that jazz. I love events that have no purpose to the plot but serve to further the characters instead. For others, this might be a negative.
With any event in a book, there's usually an intent to it. What does this scene portray? What does this say about the characters? What does it mean for the plot of the book? If a scene doesn't have intent, then why would it be in the book at all?
You could argue sex scenes in the book are pointless in books but personally, I think that they're a way for the characters to bond. It's no different to me than the characters having a moment to connect emotionally.
While the plot is integral to the relationship between the boys, each plot point moves their relationship more than it does the actually story at hand. There are many scenes that seem to exist for the sake of throwing you off the trail of who's actually done it. However, they also have a secondary objective to push Nix further into the arms of the Demons.
For example, the scene in the first book with (view spoiler) At this point and time, it isn't completely clear what that scene is for yet. Even if it isn't integral to the plot though, the final result was the Demon's coming out to protect Nix publicly.
Most of Chani's writing is like this. It doesn't mean the plot isn't important of course. It's just relationship first. This is all to say, this is entirely personal preference. So this review was absolutely useless.
However, if it sounds good to you, then again, what are you reading this for?

The connection between the MCs is so fucking amazing and it's awesome to see their relationship stabilize and for them to finally FINALLY become a unit with mutual trust - Nix is being treated as their partner and I LOVE it! I want the 4th book to be out asap so i can reread this whole series asap! If the CWs dont scare you off, please enjoy friends!
