Dane is the first book in the Donovan Dynasty series, however for those who have read the Donovan Family series, Dane is not a new character. This was a really good book. I liked how A.C. Arthur was able to tell his story without relying on previous story lines. There is a brief history of how he came to be where he is now, for new readers. But the story itself was fresh and new. Zera is a new character who has a very shady past. Her previous relationship with Dane has left impressions on both their lives and the secrets she is carrying definitely impacts their future.
This is a romantic suspense book at it best. The action and intrigue are non-stop and the twist towards the end had me clutching my pearls. I couldn't believe I hadn't figured it out, but that is just how good A.C. Arthur writes. Kudos for Dane.
