challenging slow-paced
The book has a happy ending, before that was mostly trauma from parental neglect and parents passing on their trauma to the child, made more severe because of the child's disability.  As a disabled person, this book was triggering to read. While it has a hopeful ending, reading the book was not uplifting in the slightest.

Using a religious text to explain your daughter's chronic illness as "You deserve this for not honoring me" is not okay.
