I usually reserve 5 star amazon reviews for books that have put me through an emotional wringer. And whilst this book certainly had plenty of angst to balance the love, it was the wonderful humor and the heroine that made this an exceptional read. On Goodreads scale I put it between 4 and 5 stars.

I'm not sure if I was supposed to but I could guess who/what Reuben was almost straight away. This made me worried that the book would be very cliched and predictable - which was the only wasted time I spent on this book because it was neither! Both Reuben and Isla are well crafted characters who are both easy to like and to connect with. Isla felt particularly 'real', duct taped life and all. The supporting characters in this are also well written (several are the main characters in previous books) and added depth to the story.

Whilst the plot is not full of mystery and suspense I was gripped by it and read the book through in one sitting. On several occasions I had no idea which direction the book was heading, it isn't predictable or formulaic. The book is really easy to read (and fun) with natural dialogue, a steady pace and believable reactions to different situations that arise.

Whilst I already have a couple of Cassie-Ann's books on my kindle this is the first that I have got around to reading. I shall be rectifying that oversight and also adding to my collection of her work at the earliest opportunity. Whilst I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book, please be assured that is NOT the reason for the 5 stars. I always leave a genuine review and if I don't like the arc I contact the author with my reasons.

Not bad, but, in the end Isla immediately thinks the absolute worst of the man she "loves", without even giving him the chance to explain, while he's in the middle of an emotional crisis next to his brother's death bed. Not cool, woman! It's like she's being a bitch just to create unnecessary drama. Entertaining, sex scenes were good, except for a few cringe worthy word choices (cringy for me; other people might not find them too bad, but there's something about the word "serum" to refer to semen that's just... Ugh).

the protection this man felt towards her was beautiful literally going to her ex husbands house and making him stop taking alimony money was the most romantic thing in this book
