Wow, what a sappy, sweet indulged story. I’m not sure why this is a classic. It is incredibly dull with little to no story; here is life, just how it is. I guess it’s an interesting time piece, but that’s it. Not going to continue reading the next books.

A beautifully written story, with many touching moments that shall likely bring tears to your eyes. A little heavy handed at times morally, perhaps longer than it needed to be, and with an ending not entirely satisfactory. Yet, when one reflects on how much the girls learn and overcome - from the opening chapter of childish chatter to the bittersweet closing lines - it certainly makes it worthwhile.

This novel is so charming! My favourite characters are Amy and Beth. I sure hope nothing bad is ever going to happen to either of them (lol).
