Apologies to all of you who have rated this so highly; this just didn't do it for me. I originally started reading it in December of 2019 ahead of the Greta Gerwig film. I made it probably about 150 or so pages in. I've tried to pick it up sporadically over the past few months, but I never made it more than a chapter or two at a time. I resolved to finish it before Labor Day, so the last 300 pages were completed over the weekend. I struggled. For some reason, most 19th century literature is a just not my cup of tea. I did really enjoy the Gerwig film, so I do think it was the writing style rather than the plot itself.

Truthfully, I love this book as much as I love watching the movie.

Got as an audible thinking I'd like the full cast narration. I can't keep the voices straight. Do want to read it at some point.

Good to read if you're looking for comfort food, but a bit preachy. Definitely some giggles and tears throughout. My favorite part www
Amy and Laurie's love story
, which i wasn't expecting to enjoy so much, since it seemed forced in the movies, but it totally makes sense for the book. I did not like meg's story, especially after
she got married
. I preferred the greta gerwig interpretation of jo's ending, i didn't really buy the book version. I liked the beginning better before they all grew up, which ik is not the point. I feel like the description of Hannah's character was condescending and underdeveloped, and found the parents way too preachy. Overall a relaxing read
