Three strongest Michael Vey books: 3,6,&8
Don’t get me wrong, this is nowhere near a perfect book, technically has some flaws

But it gives me the perfect feeling in my soul
So happy to have read

I feel like I’m 12 again but in a great way
And props to Michael Vey for being the only ya series where they are allowed to continue the story past the age of 17
The characters have aged without seeming to be not themselves

Have been a big fan of this series for awhile, my 12 year old and I were excited when this one came out, after thinking the series was over. Looking forward to #9.

Really good, but too short! I am ready for more!

I honestly didn't know what to expect going into this book. I obviously love this series, but it's been a few years since he originally "ended" the series with 7 books. So I was curious to see how the story would progress in this 8th book considering mostly everything had ended nicely in the 7th book. My biggest complaint with this book is not a lot happened. In pretty much all the other books in this series, there's lots of action. Instead this book had a lot of life recap explaining how their lives have progressed since the 7th book. And once that was done, it was just travelling and info dumping. I was hoping there'd be more action, but I guess that I'll have to wait until book 9. There was a plot twist at the very end of the book that was a complete cliffhanger and I did not see it coming. So I'm excited to continue on with this series, but I don't think it lived up to the previous books in this series.

This is a good book, but…
• I feel it sometimes spends too much time on minute details and not enough time on more interesting details - which there are a lot of.
• The pacing of this book is slow. A week or 10 days go by in the whole book. We don’t hear about a major character until 75% of the book. I’m an impatient person and was bored waiting til then.
• The chapters are very short. In fact this book is short. Whatever sequel comes from it should have been in this book. This was literally stopped at the middle mark. Most series books accomplish something, then leave a cliffhanger for the next book. This book literally tells half a story and just stops.

Things I liked:
• the characters, and seeing them mature and get older, seeing what they are doing as time has passed.
• the family relations of the electroclan. Hearing updates on the parents, the business, etc.
• the technology is very interesting and creative.
• there’s a good plot, the pacing is just too slow.

I suppose we’ll have to wait another year to read about the second half of this story. This was good but too short.

When I heard that Evans was writing more about Michael and the Electroclan I was unsure because the story ended, but I was excited. The reader in me had to know.

I can say that this does provide a logical reason for the Electrical to be back in action. This novel is slower, and I will admit it feels a little different than the first 7.

I have it as a 3 star because it's really refreshing to see all the Electroclan and see how their story continues, but it's A LOT slower. And my rating system is like 5 was life changing and definitely reading again, 4 is a that was great, I might read it again, and 3 is a "it was good, but I'm not reading it again"
