T e book presents itself with an innocent and charming cover, but actually this is decidedly an adult novel featuring explicit sexual content. The characters are endearing and relatable; however, the plot doesn't offer much depth.  It's primarily a guilty pleasure read for those moments when you're horny.

My favorite kind of non-fantasy romances. But I wouldn’t read this one in public.

I just know Henry's back hurts because he carried the first half of this book. The first 20% had me worrying that this book was overrated and wondering how I was expected to be interested in Nathan when Henry is RIGHT THERE. (To say I'm excited for his book would be an understatement.)
I think what wasn't my cup of tea was how into casual hookups everyone is at first? It gave me the feeling of "this isn't romance. This is college bullshit". It was lust, not love, vibes with so much immature dramaaa (and I feel like that's saying something with my reading choices) 😭🤣 I was desperate for some pining, some obsession, some jealousy by the time it finally hit 👏🏻 But when it did hit, it more than made up for the wait! Nathan really grew on me, and I do appreciate Anastasia's character growth. Their banter was pure perfection! The dirty talk/spice was also spectacular, but I won't lie- I expected a bit MORE with how people were talking about this book. (I thought there would be something wild like, idk, involving a hockey stick??) I was giggling & kicking my feet half the time though!! It pulls off a 4.75 despite it's slow start- highly recommend ♡

this book was trashy and problematic yet great fun. while i loved how smutty it was, my complaints are as follows.

1. apparently only penetrative PIV sex counts as real sex for the author, and everything else is ancillary??? it was subtle, but i clocked the heteronormative messaging and found it to be out of place in a book that has such fun sex scenes (of various kinds!) and also seemingly a commitment to diversity (stas says she’s a feminist, disabled rep, implied queer rep etc)

2. the boys objectified anastasia the whole time! the whole team treated her like a sex object and it got old. no idea how she felt comfortable in the house or liked them tbh. i did find the friendships cute and endearing, and i liked stassi and nate as a couple, but the misogyny/male protector/male jealousy thing was not attractive. i wish nate had not been so possessive and maybe part of the plot was him working thru this but again, stassi calls herself a feminist and they emphasize consent, so it felt very out of place and like the author was not aware of how problematic this can be. i also dislike when men fight so i really didn’t like any of the fight scenes, especially in the context of “defending” anastasia

3. the aaron stuff was dramatic and weird and didn’t really make sense. i enjoyed the drama ig but he was such a villain that it didn’t seem realistic.

4. tbh none of the ways any of these people acted were realistic  like why do we never hear about their classes. it was also hard to picture what the settings looked like bc there were no descriptions at all

5. i almost stopped reading right away when stassi said she feared gaining weight. i kept on with it and i was relieved that she ends up working through that and gets to eat more/finds a better relationship to food and that was sweet to read about

overall this book was messy and silly yet i gobbled it up in 2 days. i enjoyed the length/how many plot points it had but that definitely contributed to the mess lol

If I’m being honest I didn’t care for this book that much.  All the mentions of sex felt way too much like immature middle schoolers who just learned what sex was.  The smut itself was okay, it read like something on Wattpad (derogatory).  Plus the pregnancy trope ruined it for me.

Aaron got away with way too much.  I don’t care what little drama with him was for the plot, he should have been put in his place; and even the ending for him wasn’t that good, he gets a transfer?  That’s all?!  He was so controlling, disgusting, and so creepy.

The other thing that bothered me was how lightly the eating disorder of the FMC was mentioned.  She constantly struggled with food and it’s just lightly glossed over?  Huh?  How are you so pro therapy but continue to ignore most of your problems.

I really liked Nate and his friends, while getting flowers for his girlfriend he also got his friend some because he hadn’t ever gotten any before was such a wholesome moment.  Nate’s character in general was really enjoyable.

Could have been about 200 pages shorter. I found all of the characters to be very 2d and repetitive, and any marketing suggesting it’s anything other than smut with the smallest bit of (not great) plot is lying! The ending/epilogue was so terrible and I think reductive. Having a
adopted character who explicitly says she only wants to adopt in the future end up pregnant and a stay at home mom was crazy work.
That being said… Nate was sweet even if he was stubborn and not a great boyfriend sometimes. Henry is the only thing I thought was an actual positive. Didn’t hate it but certainly didn’t like it.

I may be biased when it comes to hockey romances now, but I absolutely loved this book!! Stassie & Nate are just the cutest! And they are a real power couple! I also loved all the side characters (besides Aaron obvs 😂) Lola, Robbie, Henry, JJ, just all of them! The support they show one another is incredible! I can’t wait for Russ & Henry’s stories, & I hope there’s more after that!
