I found that the ending came out of nowhere and I was left thinking "oh, that was it?".
I didn't enjoy the way the dialogue was written but it was interesting and fairly engaging.

The wetting style is sally rooney is so unlike anything else i’ve read. It’s almost sterile in the lack of metaphors and drawn out explications, but honestly I think that it added so much to the book. The whole point is that these are normal people who’s lives aren’t perfect and amazing things don’t happen just because. I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t need super frilly writing to keep them interested, it’s definitely not the type of book that will be universally loved. That being said please check tw before starting this book it delves into some really dark topics.

such a fast read wow. honestly haven’t read a book so fast in a very long time. it honestly reminded me of reading fan fiction on my phone until 5am rushing from one word to the next just to follow the dialogue and interactions. i loved this confusing relationship and how the book progressed through time. i was scared after hearing so much that this would be overhyped but it is very appropriately hyped ! i felt annoyed with the characters at time for being unrelatable but that was really my only qualm.

i have the sense that this is a really great book and i’m just not old enough to fully enjoy it. i did actually like it, but at the beginning i was very mad at the verisimilitude of sally rooney’s writing style. i felt like it was overconfident and dry. once i got into it, though, i felt that it sort of suited her characters. this seems like it would be a great book for people leaving college or in the latter half of their twenties. otherwise, it’s probably just a nice vacation book for the rest of us; take it to the beach, read it at lunchtime, etc., which doesn’t make it bad, but i wouldn’t sit down and enjoy it deeply if i had other things to do with my time.

I am German and read the book in german so I will also write my review in german.
