this book made me feel so many things and think so many things. i genuinely think it has changed me as a person. Connell and Marianne are two deeply flawed characters yet in nearly every aspect of their lives i find a reflection of mine. if the ending hadn’t ended the way it did it would make the book feel unfinished, yet it still is unfinished. they have so much of their lives ahead of them, but their story in the novel had ended. i absolutely need another 17 million sequels to their story, but they will not come and i understand why. Connell and Marianne kept making the same choices and expecting. different outcome and i don’t know if anything else would have transpired if there was more to their story. five stars.

Second time reading this and I just felt it way more. I enjoyed the long descriptions about things that seemed trivial at first but told so much about our characters and the story. Found myself resonating and understanding a lot of the growth and setbacks this characters had. The ending had me in tears but I think it was because of how personal it felt. I really liked this but if you hate miss communication this is not for you.

Normal People? NORMAL PEOPLE? Excuse me? That is nothing normal about these people. They need therapy. I'm just glad that, by the end, at least one of them is getting therapy. I'm so mad at this book, so mad at this story. Why? What have we done to Sally Rooney? Honestly, I read it because I do not DNF books but I though about giving up a couple of times. I just don't get the point.

I felt sorry for Marianne a couple of times. Her family is completely broken and she gets nothing from them. Her entire childhood was a mess, her time in school was a living hell... I get it. But when she gets older, when she became and adult, there is no excuse anymore. She replaced her childhood trauma for current trauma by dating a bunch of weird guys and having very wild sex. Just go get some help! Connell is just annoying since the beginning of the story and until the last page. That is one toxic relationship that should have stayed in high school.
