I loved this book series as a kid and was surprised how much I remembered. The story is interesting and well-paced. It's a really fun series with danger, adventure, and real emotion. I would recommend giving it a chance even if you're not into reading middle grade. It's a quick read. I listened to the audiobook of this while sewing one day.

Loved it. I think it would make a great netflix show or something for kids. Will definitely continue and want to own my own copies if I can find them.

This book is a very intriguing book. The relationship between Cara and her grandmother can make your heart melt! The world-building is fairly decent and I would have given this book 5 stars if I had read TFOTA series but this is nothing compared to it. Like I do wish it was more descriptive and detailed about locations or characters. Cara is in a whole new world and I would like to know everything about it! This book low-key also gives Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz vibes if it took place in a unicorn land.
“Family isn't blood," she said bitterly, continuing to back away. "Family is who loves you, who takes care of you.”

I feel like the story really picks up in the last 50 pages or so. Her friends are in danger, there is a big reveal, the drama starts and then you have to finish the book. The very endlacks something, in my opinion. It is very “hurry up and tie a bow on it”. Which is fine since there is a sequel, I was just hoping for more closure. Nevertheless, I do suggest this book for young readers!

I had read this many years ago when I was little, and when I found it lying in my closet I decided it was time to read it again. This is just such a fun little story involing magic, and unicorns, and a world unlike our own. It was so much fun to read, while you could tell it is written for a much younger audience, you are still able to read and enjoy it no matter your age.
All in all I really enjoyed this and hopefully I will be able to continue on in the series.
