I loved this one as a kid because I wanted to live on the frontier, too. I still love it for the nostalgia factor. It's kind of boring in terms of plot, but the simple writing and the cozy vibe really do it for me.

Brenna and I have been reading this slowly over several months and we just finished today. Lovely story, as always!

Even so many years later I was surprised at how much I remembered from this. This is mostly a description of the life in the woods with surprisingly violent and vivid descriptions of butchering, cooking and food. It made me hungry and made me smile. The pictures which accompany the books are super cute though. All in all I had a great time.

Fascinating! I loved how they lived and how Christmas was for them.

This is a pure delight on audio! There is singing and music, plus great character voices. It really brings this classic to life.
