I was prepared to be iffy on this but by the 50% mark, I could not put it down. My annoyance with the paragraphs of questions isn’t a reason to knock it down because in the end I ate this marriage of convenience, enemies to lovers up with every twist and turn that I didn’t see coming.

This gave me the same feelings as reading ACOTAR and ACOMAF but with an even grittier side given the monster hunting and the gore of it all.

I can’t wait for the second book.

This book felt slow to me, which probably had a little to do with reading it during the first week of school, but I finally finished it. It’s an interesting world with the Crux and all of the monsters, I also really appreciated the fact that the FMC wasn’t a badass killer, but instead had to learn how to defend herself and use swords. I totally had things figured out with the Guardian, but was still happy when it all played out. I’ll be interested to read the next in the series!
