I'm pretty new to graphic novels, but I'm finding them to be a nice change of pace in between denser books. Also, I love the visual element of the art while reading, which isn't something I thought about before.

I really appreciated the art of this graphic novel! The colors and angularity of it is memorable and adds to the unnerving nature of the tale. It delineates between the two settings of the story very well and gives me this feeling of otherworldliness within our own normal world! On top of the art I appreciated the story. While the characters aren't my favorite in the world I appreciated how real to life they felt for the short amount of time we are given with them. It will be fun to see them all come together in the next book as they all seem to have varying motives that may intersect in unique ways. In addition, Westerfield did a great job of building suspense so I am waiting to see what happens next.  I am so intrigued to see what we learn in the sequel as the ending definitely left me on the edge of the seat.

3.5 stars.

This was great. The story was so interesting. I want to know more about the zone and the incident that caused it. Also, what's up with the ending?? Who is the random guy who was introduced in the end? Who and what is Vespertine, actually? Can't wait to read more.

I took off about .5 stars for the art style. I wasn't a huge fan of it. Though sometimes I suppose it did add to the feeling of the story, it just wasn't appealing to me overall.

I really liked this. It's creepy and weird, and I have no idea what's going to happen next. I'll have to pick up the next volume!

Spillzone is a very strange and surreal sci-fi graphic novel. Also, super dark. I'm not sure where the story is going, but overall a solid introduction to the universe.

Addison survived the Spill. Now, to take care of her little sister, she takes photographs inside the quarantine zone and sells them secretly to the highest bidder. She has created rules to help her survive inside, which she inevitably has to break as she needs more and more funds to survive.
The art is weird and trippy and awesome, but this was definitely an intro book. Not sure where it's going with the plot (North Korea? The "fire?" The wolf that knows her name?) and I'm not really hooked, yet.
