Everything I love about historical fiction, including the plot, characters and backstory. To be honest though I was a little disappointed that none of the main characters died during WWI because it didn't as accurately represent the udder devastation the war on European society and families.

I REALLY enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator did a wonderful job of engaging you in the story! There were quite a few characters - 5 different nationalities and the narrator did the appropriate accents for the character's country. It was so well done that I had no problems realizing when the story had shifted. I have not read a lot about this period in history so it was eye opening for me. I liked the characters a lot and look forward to reading the next book in the trilogy!

Follett creates another engaging cast of characters. I like being able to see them interact with one another - those who are villainous in their relationships with some may be very positive characters as they intact with others. Gives them all dimension and helps paint a picture of the world and society during this time. Excited to continue the trilogy.

Amazing, I have had quite a bad run with books lately and was so happy to read this book. It is amazing close to the historical facts and shows other perspectives to the war.. Amazing worth reading..

Es enorme, pero es realmente bueno :3 ....
Que puedo decir, interesante y realista ...

First of all I must confess that I did not know about The Century Trilogy until I read a review of the second book. (Librarian FAIL). So I immediately got my hands on a copy of Fall of Giants, which actually languished in the back seat of my car for a couple of weeks until an audiobook version became available to me. After that I went liberally between the two. Follett is an amazing storyteller and I am ashamed to admit that I have only read one other of his books. His characterizations are masterful, though I must say that had I not become a fan of Downton Abbey, I might have not held so much interest in certain parts of the story. In any case, reading Fall of Giants has made me want to go back to examine the historical events that make up the backdrop of the book.
To anyone who finds the length of the book daunting: don't worry about it. It reads quickly and is not tedious at all. Listening to parts made me slow down and pay attention as well.

Me encantó.

Such a great story. Even after 1000 pages, I wanted more to the story. I can't wait to follow these families in later generations through other historical circumstances. A bit hard sometimes to follow all of the characters (there are LOTS), but the character list at the beginning helps tremendously.

I am a huge Follet and historical fiction fan. Clearly , Follet did his research. But the story relied too much on the details and minutiae of the war and
politics of the time and less on characters and plot.
