I see this illustrator has made several of these books and I read this to my kids. Great for the, learning to read but the pictures didn't go with what the author wrote, the cat looks absolutely bored and I'm not of fan of these illustrations. Needless to say I hated the book. Lol but that's just me..

Pete, Pete, Pete. sigh I expected more. I was excited at the possible role reversal, but the ending removed any need for it. Just...sigh.

I Can Read.  My son loves Pete the Cat stories, so once we had read a good number of the picture books I started checking out some of the I Can Read books.  I like this one because it has some of the elements of fairy tales without the overly pink girly vibe that drives me nuts.  Sir Pete the Brave is listening to Lady Callie play the harp, but wakes up to find that he was enchanted an Lady Callie has disappeared!  Pete quickly realizes that a dragon has taken Callie and sets off to rescue her. Once the dragon spies Pete, Lady Callie tries to save him, and in their ensuing argument the dragon starts to cry.  Alas the dragon only wanted to enjoy the music, so he flies everyone back and joins in the music. This fun fantasy offers low-stakes adventure, where there is an element of fear but nothing too scary in the Pete the Cat World.
