(4.5) Another captivating book by Taylor Jenkins Reid! I loved the setting of Malibu and I enjoyed the family dynamic. TJR has already proven that she does a great job writing exciting stories set in old Hollywood and this one was no different. The main story taking place over the course of one day also made it a really quick read, but there were a few too many one-off characters for me to be able to keep track of why everyone was important to the story.
I did enjoy Daisy Jones & Evelyn Hugo a bit more than Malibu Rising, but I still thought it was a really fun book with a really immersive setting! I hope TJR continues to write old Hollywood dramas!

Idk man this one just didn't feel like Taylor. It contained echoes of the masterpieces that were Evelyn and Daisy. I understand where the author was coming from but there was so much unnecessary info about random people in the middle that was really not central to the story at all. It somehow lacked the depth. I would've loved to see more from the siblings side but we really did find depth to Nina's character than the others.
I don't think I have to explain the 5 stars. Taylor Jenkins Reid seriously knows how to write a book!! I love this Reidverse series and can't wait to read the other ones.
Another good one from Taylor Jenkins Reid! I enjoyed the character development of the Riva family and the use of flashbacks to create a more full picture of Mick and June as people. Definitely noticed similar themes in this as Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo — good people do bad things sometimes, everyone makes mistakes, life is not black and white — and I felt like those messages were delivered effectively.
I did not love the unrealistic culmination of drama… Mick showing up to the party after midnight?! Casey coming out of the woodwork and the siblings just taking her in?! It was hard for me to look past that and take it seriously. Also, the volume of characters that were introduced just to have a role in the chaos of the party seemed unnecessary.

This was a rollercoaster of a book. Some parts I found myself hooked, others were devastating, but then you get to the party and it drags on for what seems like an age. Everything up to then was more interesting than the finale.
