This book took me quite awhile to get through (with a major three month break to do my dissertation)! But the last part is just magical.

The Infinite Plan was a book club selection which prompted an interesting discussion. The main character lacked self-awareness and reading his life story and watching him make the same mistakes over and over again was tedious. Some of us were bothered by that, others felt the ending was worth the read. The main character is based on the author's second husband, who apparently lived the full life explored in this novel. This is the author's first novel set mostly in the US and it was not as well reviewed as her previous work. I have The Japanese Lover on my shelf and I will pick it up and read it at some point, as I will give Isabel Allende another try.

I was unsure about the book going into it, but I quickly got invested in the story. I didn't love the characters as much as in Isabel Allende's other books but it was so brilliantly told nevertheless and I gulped the story up in a short period of time. In less then an hour which is rare thing for me tpdp these days but I couldn't get enough of her writing. I'm very happy I got another book by her from the library and they've got quite a few I haven't read.

not quuuuuuuite as good as house of the spirits but DAMN is allende at full force once again. beautiful book on what life can mean to different people, and her prose is just as beautiful as it’s always been. admittedly, sometimes the narrator switches tripped me up, but i’m a sucker for an ending like the one she gave us.

This book follows a very twisted and winding path of the Reeves family and the many relationships they have. I would say it’s a well written book but left me wondering the point of it but maybe it has many points. I will let you decide

Vai valer a pena.
