I'm not really sure why I picked up this book. Spies, covert ops and the like are not my usual cup of tea.
I found the flow of the story a little jerky for me. There were some hard jumps from the main characters back to secondary characters. It tended to pull me out of the story a bit. But it was too bad.
I won't be picking up the rest of this series.

My Thoughts:
I love special ops kinda book and this series was a great one. Because they actually have a double life since all agents are professors in a university. Different, right? But the book is still about a lot of action and there’s also some romance and each agent get their HEA with some “special” lady.
This book is for Drake and he’s one of the most alpha characters that I’ve met so far. So it was kinda fun to watch him fall for Madeline simply because he thought she was a bad person. There’s also a more complicated book them the rest since the story doesn’t end when he gets her to a safe place and they actually have to save another person but for this Drake has to believe in Madeline and she kinda is not the best person to put your trust on.
There’s also a spy in the group since book one it continues to try stop them to actually finish the mission. And it’s hard for them to investigate this because they are all friends and one of them is selling their secrets and they could all die for this.
I liked the chemistry between Drake and Madeline. He thinks she’s a nothing more than a prostitute when in reality she was being black mailed and he gets really surprise when the truth came up. She was trying to save her sister and ended up in the middle of a drug cartel, so the only way out is with Drake help.
They decides to scape through the jungle after some plans fall apart and she is more than just a pretty girl. Drake makes this book be really good and the plot was great. There were some changes along the way that I wasn’t expecting, but the story ended up with more than just a happy ending for those two.

When I read a book a little outside my usual range, and I'm not thrilled with it, I have a hard time deciding how much is me and how much is the book.
I kept thinking that if I could just put on the same "just go with it" mindset I do when it comes to movies,I might have really enjoyed it.
There was the kick-ass woman and the guy who comes to her rescue, both of them shooting people right and left, jumping over waterfalls, making their way through the jungle. When they stop moving, the inevitable happens, this being a romance novel.
I mean, what's not to like?
As it was, I didn't find the characters (major or minor) to be behaving as I thought they should have in the circumstances. I thought there were a few too many coincidences, and the misuse of technology bugged me, even when the same things wouldn't have flowed right by me in a movie.

Dangerous Desires is the second book in Dee Davis's A-Tac series and follows a group of men and women who are member of a CIA black ops unit called American Tactical Intelligence Command (aka A-Tac). The book began with Drake killing a woman he was working with on mission after he found out she was a double agent. He was attracted to the woman and was deeply troubled by what had happened; he vowed never to let a woman get under his skin again. Enter Madeline Reynard and she has been under the thumb of a ruthless crime lord until she found out that the sister she was trying to protect was dead. Now she wants out, has reached out to the U.S. for help and they sent the A-Tac. Madeline knows too much about the crime lord's illegal activities, however, and will stop at nothing to get her back. After being separated from the team, Drake and Madeline were on their own, evading hired mercenaries, surviving the Colombian jungle and fighting their growing attraction to each other.
Madeline is a great heroine--she is resilient, smart, brave, tough and she goes after what she wants. She is a great match for Drake, though I feel Madeline had more of the spotlight than him and that's okay because her past and her years with the crime lord was interesting. But in the end, I feel like I didn't get to know him as much as I did her. I thought Drake and Madeline are great together and there are plenty of chemistry between them. As for secondary characters, I thought the villain was a bit cartoonish especially during the confrontation in the end but we do see Annie and Nash from the first book as well as the other A-Tac members. The most interesting character we are introduced to in this book is Drake's brother Tucker--he was thought to be dead until Madeline proved otherwise and is rescued from a Colombian prison. I hope Tucker gets his own book in the future because I'd like to know more about him. For those who read the first book, Dark Deceptions, the overarching storyline involving the mysterious mole sabotaging A-Tac missions continues in this book and I am anxious to see more about that in the next book.
I admit I wasn't a big fan of the first book so I was a little iffy about starting this book but Dangerous Desires surprised me as it is a lot better than Dark Deceptions. I thought this book was well-written with great characters and the pacing was exciting as there is always something going on. This book, which can be read as a standalone, began with a bang and doesn't let up until the very end. This book is a non-stop, edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense with plenty of action that is hard to put down until you've read the end. 4.25 out 5 stars

This book is a good jungle survival romance. The two leads have trouble with trust issues but find common ground in the love and death of their siblings. They also help each other survive drug dealers and the deadly jungle. The story line that began in Dark Deceptions continues here with the troubling realization that someone in the A-TAC organization is sabotaging their missions. The person and the reasons behind it are unclear and will continue in future books in this series. Another good read by Dee Davis.
Much more enjoyable than #1 in the series! A quick moving, adventurous, romance-spy novel. Enjoyably simple read.
