slow-paced

I'm not even really sure what to say about this...it was a super weird book. Like, super weird. I can't think of anything out there that even comes close to being similar to it. But also amazing and exciting and really unique and cool. And it wasn't the kind of weird like people shove into your face to show that they're super cool and just really, like, different, man (the feeling I get from China Mieville's books, honestly) but for how out there and strange it also felt really grounded and real.

Anyway, I liked it a lot and would totally recommend it.

Wonderful. Confusing. Inspiring. Dark. This book will stick with me for a long time.

absolute mind fuck of a novel probably the craziest mind fuck i've ever experienced in my life while also simultaneously being the most brilliant thing ever??? like holy fucking shit what the hell was that. i think i need literally 4 years to process whatever tf i just read. the absolute mastery over plot you need to write something like this the way all the pieces just started coming together at the end of it all and even when i thought i knew what was going on SOMETHING ELSE happened that made me question everything until finally it all slotted perfectly into place like holy fucking shit this is probably the most satisfying ending to a book i've ever read in my life

I was really disappointed by this read. From what I heard, this was a book that led you to question a lot of things, like how much evil can you justify with the "it was for a greater good" excuse, shit like that.
Turns out, the whole philosophy is "resolved" by a chat where she isn't really asking WHY it happened, she's just satisfied with the "I did it because of this" and that's all.

The siblings felt like they barely had depth. Half of them were only mentioned, and the other half were only used to forward the plot. Which, yeah, you know that it was meant as that, but it feels kinda cheap? Let them have more personalities other that what they studied. The fact that some of them could read minds made it impossible for them to have more of a personality and it sucked to read.
The writing felt so disjointed. They introduced characters in such a way that you had to read so much more in order to know who they were, and even then you weren't really sure why they were important, or why you were getting their POV, because it felt so out of nowhere. Give me more information so I know it's what has to happen, don't leave me in the dark so much that I lose interest in knowing who they are.
I don't know, I just expected more. Maybe you get more of the story and hints on a reread, but it's not worth reread for me.
